About Our Team

We are a growing department, with about 49 FTEs, 25 of these are MT/MLT’s.  We operate 24/7, and due to an increase in patient volume (about 8-10% annually), we have added new FTE’s to assist in serving this need.  In 2007, we ran approximately 1.7 million tests and this will continue to increase.  MT/MLTs work closely on the team of which will also include Lab Support, Client Services and Technical Assistants.  Our department has very low turnover and takes pride in our work.  Our patient satisfaction scores are some of the highest in the hospital at 4.9 (5.0 is highest score possible).  We are very proud of this!

 

A typical day on the job

We provide lab services for both in- and out-patients who are referred from physician offices and clinics.  We have an open, diverse, hardworking, supportive team who work well together.  We are highly skilled with the majority of the techs being generalists.  We are able to connect with each other throughout the day as well at monthly staff meetings and at in-services.  We were one of the first in Washington State to install a Lab Automation/robotics System.  This system allows the lab to process patient specimens in less time and reduces the potential for error by minimizing sample handling.  The automated track delivers the specimen to the chemistry and immunoassay analyzers
