Medical Technologist (full-time, days)

Will work as a generalist primarily at the Somerville Hospital Laboratory, but may need to work at the Cambridge Hospital Laboratory as needed.Duties & responsibilities include:*performing phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients*performing Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis and some Transfusion Services testing*participating in proficiency testing*troubleshooting and resolving instrument problems*receiving and processing a variety of specimens and utilizing the Meditech computer system for data entry;computerized worksheets and instrument interfaces are used in the performance of testing*performing both Stat and routine testing in an accurate and timely manner*assisting the supervisor in the development of new methods and evaluating cost feasibility as required*training new employees in department procedures and policies*working with fellow staff members to analyze workflow processes and conduct QI audits*On-Call coverage Minimum education: BS/MTRegistration/certification: certification as MT (ASCP) or equivalent NCA or HEW highly preferable at time of hire.
