History
In October 2005, three prominent pathology groups merged to provide superior diagnostic services to physicians and patients throughout Western Washington. Each group brought over 40 years of experience and expertise, their combined forces creating Centers of Excellence and expertise in over twenty different sub-specialties.

 

Position

This position transcribes and interprets dictation by pathologists and other healthcare providers in order to document laboratory test results. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11am – 7:30pm. Saturday work can be done at home if the person has a computer.

 

Job Duties

· Transcribes dictation by pathologists and other healthcare providers.

·Interprets dictation by pathologists and other healthcare providers.

·Types or transcribes reports, correspondence or other needed documents.Prints medical reports. Assists with maintaining tracking log for incoming and outgoing slides. Assists with matching gross report with appropriate slides for distribution to physicians. Assists department with various clerical responsibilities as needed.

 

Education/ExperienceExperience preferred but will consider new graduate from medical transcription program. Typing at 70-80 wpm. Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices. Knowledge of anatomic pathology preferred. Excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style. Ability to use an extensive array of professional reference materials. Ability to operate word processing equipment, dictation and transcription equipment, and other equipment as specified, and to troubleshoot as necessary. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, E-mail required.  PowerPath and/or Winscribe experience preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision. Ability to work under pressure with time constraints. Ability to comprehend diverse dictator accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination. Ability to understand and apply relevant legal concepts (e.g., confidentiality). High school graduate or equivalent
