Mental Health Clinical Data Manager

The James J. Peters VAMC, Mental Health Patient Care Center is recruiting for a Mental Health Clinical Data Manager.  The positon can be filled by a Registered Nurse or Clinical Pscychologist or Social Worker.  Salary for a Registered Nurse is commensurate with work experience. The Data Manager has significant responsibility for the administrative and clinical management of the Mental Health Enhancement Initiative 12 Point Plan and associated performance measures.  In the setting of the MHPCC outpatient clinic area, the Data Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, providing, and evaluating a variety of complex functions directly related to the MH Enhancement Initiative 12 Point Plan, e.g. appointment scheduling, missed opportunities and performance measure improvement. The work of the position requires complex and methodical tracking (with Excel spreadsheets) of patients requiring a follow-up appointment (no later than 14 days from the initial appointment) to allow the MH provider a full diagnostic and treatment plan evaluation for the patient.  The Data Manager will also manage the tracking and documenting of follow-up phone calls to “no show patients”.  This can include outreach phone calls, phone assessments, office visits, and addressing consults as needed. Data Manager will also be responsible for reporting to clinical coordinators and performance measure champions the Clinical Reminder and Performance Measure completion rates (e.g. Alcohol Use Screen, Depression Screen, Diabetic HgA1C done within 1 year, Primary Care Visit in the Past Year, PTSD Screen, Tobacco Counseling Screen and Tobacco Non-User Screen) in order to be aware of and address shortfalls in clinical reminder completion. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION  REQUIREMENTS: Experience: Applicants must have ONE YEAR OF SPECIALIZED MENTAL HEALTH EXPERIENCE, EQUIVALENT TO the next lower grade level, (GS-9 for grade GS-11 Social Worker.) that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To qualify for a Social Worker,  Education: Master’s Degree in social work from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.  All Candidates must possess a license, certificate or registration to practice social work issued by any State.  For Title 38:  VA Handbook 5005 (Part II, Appendices G-6), qualification standards, including current and unrestricted license and current registration as appropriate.  Registered Nurse: BSN Required, MSN Preferred. Clinical Nurse Specialist: A clinical nurse specialist must possess a Masters degree from an academic program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE with a major in the clinical nursing specialty to which the nurse is to be assigned. To qualify for a Psychologist:  The candidate must have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).  The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.  Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by the APA.
