Music Therapy Project Manager

Metropolitan Jewish Geriatric Center (MJGC), a member of Metropolitan Jewish Health System, is a skilled nursing facility recognized for its unique specialty care, which includes sub-acute care, hospice care and rehabilitation.

 

We have an opening for an experienced Project Manager to Manage a NY State Department of Health Dementia Grant entitled “Making Music Therapy Practical for Nursing Homes.”  This is a 3-year grant funded research project focusing on the effects of music therapy on persons with dementia who demonstrate wandering, agitation, lack of social engagement and depression.

 

Responsibilities include:Serves as a liaison between the Nursing Home Dementia Initiative and other departments including facilitating meetings and training, preparing reports, disseminating information and soliciting feedback.  Assists in development of a curriculum for training CNA’s that work with residents with dementia including “train the trainer” programs to be delivered in all consortium facilities.Monitors, measures and reports on project results.  Recommends changes to enhance and improve effectiveness.  Develops programs and activities to be administered by the project music therapists.Administers the following assessments, BCRS/FAST, the Cornell Scale for Dementia and Depression, the Cohen Mansfield Agitation Inventory, and the Algase Wandering Scale.Submits an article for publication in a journal that is read by nursing home staff regarding project. Presents information on project design and/or results at a conference attended by long-term care staff. Manages the overall budget for the dementia grant Supervises the music therapists working under the dementia grant

Requirements include:Masters degree in related field Must be a Board Certified Music Therapist (BC-MT) or a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field Experience with persons with dementia Training experience preferred.  Experience with program planning and development, project and grant management in a healthcare environment.
