NURSE/CLINICAL TRIALS COORDINATOR (H49020)

POSITION 
SUMMARY:

The University of New Mexico Cancer Center is a statewide provider of cancer services and is influential in the cancer care field throughout the State of New Mexico. The Cancer Center has a vigorous clinical research program with over 100 on-going clinical trials. Multidisciplinary teams are each working in a specialized type of tumors, such as breast cancers, gastrointestinal cancers, gynecological cancers, etc. The Cancer Center also compiles and tracks data on all cancer cases affecting the State's diverse population. It provides state-of-the-art cancer care in both standard and investigational treatments.
The Clinical Trials Office is seeking a Nurse/Clinical Trials Coordinator. The chosen professional will require the following capabilities: Assist Investigator with screening and recruitment to clinical trials, as well as informed consent process for multiple clinical cancer trials performed at the Cancer Center. Identify potential subjects from review of existing protected health information per Inclusion/Exclusion criteria of multiple clinical trials. Plan/coordinate patient schedule for study procedures, return visits and study treatment schedules. Perform assessments at visits and monitor for adverse events. Educate patients about study procedures to be performed, visit schedule, what to report in between and during visits and potential side effects to expect. Ability to transcribe data into CRT's (paper and electronic forms) using clinical research software and UNM database systems. Ensure documentation in the medical record is complete and timely. Obtain all internal and external information required to complete report and follow-up of Serious Adverse Events per study sponsor and IRB. Be able to work independently, conduct multiple tasks in the same day of work, with sudden changes in priorities or deadlines with an attention to details. Ensure appropriate drug orders are written, infused and appropriate testing, examination and procedures are performed during designated patient study visits. Be the liaison with pharmaceutical companies and cancer government cooperative groups. Responsible for scheduling visits from the sponsor and semi-annual audits from the cooperative groups. Prepare and respond to study monitors and sponsors and/or internal, external and FDA audits. Have excellent patient manners and compassion.

THIS POSITION MAY BE LOCATED AS AN OFF-SITE CLINICAL LOCATION WITHIN THE ALBUQUERQUE AREA.

MINIMUM 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's degree in Nursing; at least 3 years of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

OR

Bachelor's degree in Nursing; at least 1 year of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with New Mexico.

PREFERRED 
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience: in Oncology in Clinical Research in Charge Management/Primary RN/Case Management in Medical/Surgical Clinical IV therapy Bachelor's degree OCN Certification Bilingual (English/Spanish)

EMPLOYMENT: Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check. CPR CertifiedCandidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire. Once hired, periodic checks will be made for eligibility of continued employment.
