Network Engineer

Provide daily support to the PC user base, including hardware, operating sytems and application software.  Assist in the coordination of PC hardware and software installations, implement standards and user requirements and assists in maintaining all procedures and documentaion.  Performs local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) administraion functions including network operating system (NOS), LAN-based applications, firewalls, data backups, environmental monitoring and VPN Internet services.  Provides support for telephony and other technologies as directed.  Assists Supervisor of Network Engineering with technology development activities including PCs, Servers, local LANS, LAN-based fax and communications, application software standards, graphical user interface (GUI) and new and evolving technologies on a company-wide basis.

 

Essential Functions:

* Assists in the design and administration of the LAN, including printer deployment, wiring and hubs

* Monitors the LAN resources, including disk availability, server usage and database capacities and takes corrective action when necessary and monitors WAN resources to include VPN, firewall adn Internet connectivity both locally and at remote locations.

* Maintains PC/LAN hardware including vendor selection and maintance support determination and supports PC/LAN based software applications including troubleshooting programs, testing, applying new software releases and training users locally and at remote locations.

* Assists in writing all necessary operation documentation

* Assists in training personnel in the execution of new and existing LAN operational functions

* Assists in the layout of the office facility to plan for new equipment and its future installation and make recommendations for additional resources for the facility

* Contacts appropriate repair personnel in the event of hardware failure and keep appropriate logs on failures, as necessary.

* Interfaces with users on an as-needed basis and acts as a technical resource for telephony and other technologies as needed

* Follows all policies and procedures relating to job responsibilities

 

Qualifications:

* CCNA strongly desired

* Bachelor's Degree

* 3-5 years in LAN Technology and PC Administration

* MCSE

* Active Directory

* Strong interpersonal skills

* Respond quickly in a fast-paced environment

* WAN experience

* Heavy Trouble shooting experience
