Network/PC Support

Work with the Director of IT and the Network Support Engineer to provide infrastructure design and support of hardware to include servers, state-of-the-art security appliances, and server software support in a mixed operating system environment that includes Microsoft and Linux.

 

Responsibilities will include the following:

 

-      Work with the Network Support Engineer to manage and monitor the network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, routers, and security appliances.  Review logs and other diagnostic reports to ensure the highest level of system availability.  Provide first level of support for all PC-related issues, ensuring a high level of user satisfaction.

-     Ensure the integrity of network servers and corporate data.  Maintain and operate archive systems, tape libraries, and back-up systems.

-      Work with the Network Engineer to proactively protect the network resource systems from failure, overutilization, and obsolescence.

-      Routinely monitor systems and system logs for errors, performance levels, and utilization levels, providing report and recommendations.  Proactively design and implement solutions to identified problems.

-      Monitor ethical use of software and compliance with applicable leases, licenses, and agreements

-      Assist in the design and implementation of user accounts, group security and access restrictions, resource sharing, and utilization of network resources.

-      Assist in the procurement process for computer hardware and software, including specifications, order processing, and expediting equipment.  Maintain records of source contracts, equipment repairs, technical support issues, software purchases, and licensing.

 

Requirements include the following:

 

At least one year of experience supporting PCs and formal training in Microsoft and Linux server operating systems; training/experience with TCP/IP networks and server operating systems; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Must be detail-oriented and able to learn new systems and processes quickly and develop high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

 

Preferred vendor experience would include Microsoft server, Novell GroupWise, Linux, Array Networks, Barracuda, FortiGate firewalls, HP switches and servers.
