Nurse Supervisor/Resident Care

Summary of Position: Directs all aspects of resident care, including assisted living services, maintaining medical supplies inventory; implementing health orientation and training programs for staff and residents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Support the Mission, Vision and Culture of the organization through positive communication and leadership
· Supervise resident care staff; interview and hire new care associates, provide training; set and adjust rates of pay and hours of work; provide performance feedback both informally and formally; recognize both appropriate and inappropriate behaviors and performance (provide rewards and discipline). Schedule Personal Care Assistants and develop daily tasks and make assignments; Verify employee hours on time cards and payroll reports; arrange replacement staffing when necessary and maintain clear records of all changes, requests and irregularities
· Implement orientation and education programs that explain the philosophy of service in accordance with Oakdale Heights Management Corporation (OHMC) Policies and Procedures
· Evaluate resident care needs and determine required level of care through initial and ongoing resident assessments. Monitor residents for changes in condition and take actions to address concerns within scope of practice, record significant changes, and notify Executive Director, physician and families when changes occur.
· Maintain assisted living residents’ files
· Medication management: responsible for overall supervision of medication management program, including supervision of medication assistants, implementation and maintenance of systems, ensuring compliance with company and state guidelines.
· Review and implement incident reports
· Provide and maintain quality assisted living program. Ensure department maintains compliance with state regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures.
· Maintain appropriate supplies at all time
· Observe universal precaution procedures and all safe workplace measures
· Operate department within budget
· Ability to be available by telephone 24 hours and when necessary, cover work of any resident services staff.
· Demonstrate positive attitude and ability to work well with all people, particularly the elderly
· Promote a positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork
· Maintain resident confidentiality
· Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications
This position requires 2-3 years previous supervisory/management experience. The RCD job requires an unencumbered RN or LVN license in California. Prior care experience in an assisted living community is required and preferred and/or other relevant experience in skilled nursing, Director of Staff Development, or case management. Employee must possess a valid First Aid card. Employee must have reliable transportation, to travel for assessments and other outreach, automobile insurance as required by law and a valid driver’s license. Employee must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language fluently.
Physical Demands:
In order to successfully perform the various duties of this job, the employee must frequently be able to stand, walk at least three flights of stairs and walk four miles in an eight hour shift; stoop and bend; regularly must lift up to 15 pounds and push up to 40 pounds, is regularly required to talk and hear, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
