Nurse - Whole Blood Collections - Klamath Basin

Sooner or later, virtually all of us will face a time of great vulnerability in which we will need blood. Nurses at The American Red Cross play a critical role in collecting quality units of whole blood for the Pacific Northwest Region.

The American Red Cross is recruiting a Part-time (approximately 24+ hours per week) Nurse based from our Klamath Falls office.

Nurses spend each day in a new environment working at mobile blood drives throughout the Klamath Basin performing extensive health histories and phlebotomy on healthy, volunteer blood donors. Training to work as a Charge Nurse may be provided within four months to a year, with additional compensation provided for hours spent charging on a blood drive.

Requirements:

Active Oregon nursing license.

Demonstration of a genuine commitment to donor comfort and care while representing the mission of the American Red Cross.

Detail-oriented assessment skills.

Ability to communicate accurately verbally, in writing, and over telephone.

Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills.

Scheduling flexibility to include various shifts, daily travel and overnight travel.

Valid drivers license.

Membership in the ONA Union.

Venipuncture, phlebotomy or IV experience preferred.

Supervisory or leadership experience a plus.

Bilingual skills a plus!

Travel: Hours vary daily (M-F; occasional weekend) averaging 8-10 hours per day (including commute time in company vehicle), and the ability to commit to a flexible schedule including overnight travel is required. In part-time capacity, overnight travel will include approximately 3-5 overnight trips per month.

Compensation: Position is hourly, non-exempt. Pay is based on education and experience per ONA contract.
