ON-CALL HOSPICE RN - REGISTERED NURSE

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provides patient care services as directed by the plan of care.

- Participates in developing the interdisciplinary team plan of care.

- Implements patient care services as directed by the plan of care.

- Teaches appropriate palliative interventions to family members, other health professionals and the community at large.

- Provides accurate, timely, appropriate documentation of all services provided to be placed in the Hospice Service Record within seven (7) days.

- Reports changes in the patient's condition to the Director of Nursing Care or designee, physician, or interdisciplinary team as appropriate.

- Attends team meetings and in-services as required.

- Uses appropriate communication skills and provides emotional support to the patient/family as needed through good listening skills.

- Follows all policies and procedures of Lion Hospice and follows all directives of practice from the Patient Care Coordinators.

- All other duties as assigned.

LION HOSPICE OFFERS:

 

These On-Call positions are secondary positions to our full-time Triage Nurse who handles all first calls.  The On-Call nurse is to be available and willing to go out on any necessary call that might come in during the time of their shift.  The Triage Nurse handles 80% of issues/problems, but will assign visits to the On-Call Nurse based on need of the patient/family.  Average calls vary depending upon days and census, but historical calls show an average of 12 to 18 visits over their 5 day shift (2 to 4 a day).

 

One Position is Available:  The Weekly shift includes the hours of:

-  Thursday 5pm to Friday 8am

-  Friday 5pm to Monday 8am

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Current and valid state nursing license, or the ability to obtain one.

- Reliable, personal transportation for travel to and from patient locations.

- Valid state driver's license and current auto liability insurance.

- Minimum 1 year recent medical, surgical, oncology, ICU, or home care experience or equivalent.
