OPERATIONS MANAGER, LAB

Operations Manager, LaboratoryWhidden Memorial HospitalEverett, MAFull-time, 40hpwProvides supervision of the Whidden Hospital Laboratory. Ensures high quality technical performance in accordance with the laboratory's goals and requirements. Acts as a liason between the Whidden laboratory and its internal and external customers.Specific duties and responsibilities include:1. Interviewing and preparing all documents for the hiring of new employees2. Coordinating the orientation and training of all new employees3. responsibilty for annual review training and competency checks of all staff4. responsibility for performance evaluations on all employees5. Objectively and effectively resolving all personnel grievances6. maintaining all personnel files, continuing education records and staff competency assessment files 6. Effectively managing the inventory of supples, purchasing and budgeting for the department7. responsibility for maintaining the Whidden laboratory in a continuous state of readiness for CAP, JCAHO, AABB and CLIA inspections8. Actively participates in committees/task force meetings as required9. Conducts regular department meetings with staff to both relayinformation and to seek input from the staff on the operations of the department10. Reviews and maintains all quality control data and instrument maintenance records11. Ensures that the department adheres to established testing schedules and turn-around-time parameters12. integrates quality improvement into daily work; conducts audits as needed and reports findings to monthly Lab Quality Improvement committee13. effectively meets the department's scheduling and staffing needs14. provides a leadership role in the development of a productive work team; engages staff in the development of improvement efforts15. works collaboratively with the supervisory team to standardize laboratory operations Education/Certification:Individual must have MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent NCA, AMT or HEW certificationIndividual must meet current CLIA regulations for high complexity testing and general supervisionPrevious experience: Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience under a College of American Pathologist qualified directorAdditional preferences:1. Previous supervisory experience preferred2. Strong human resources and team-building skills3. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task4. Able to communicate effectively5.
