The nurse manager provides 24 hour accountability for the unit or program and operationalizes the core values of the organization by developing and sustaining an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice and the care of patients. Accountable for developing, implementing and evaluating a staffing plan that meets patient care needs; and for allocating human, material and fiscal resources effectively and efficiently. Works collaboratively with other disciplines and departments to develop and evaluate patient care programs. Facilitates both clinical education and clinical investigation to advance the art and science of professional nursing practice. Promotes the development of other nurse professionals. Ensures consistency in the implementation of the philosophy of nursing and standards of nursing practice. East OR Nurse Manager position for 20 ORs and 2 procedure rooms with over 80 FTEs. Fast growing surgical case volume in the following services: General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, GYN, Plastics, Eye, ENT and Podiatry. Skills and Knowledge: 1 - Demonstrated track record in staff and leadership selection and development with the ability to lead change. 2 - Demonstrated and comprehensive knowledge of Patient Safety - Team Concept. 3 - Comprehensive knowledge of throughtput and efficiency in the perioperative setting. 4 - Comfortable with technology - background in perioperative system implementations. 5 - Skilled in budget development and management. Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements: 1. Current nursing registration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 2. M.S.N. in nursing administration or a clinical specialty. 3. Must have demonstrated clinical competence in area of nursing practice and demonstrated ability in managerial competency. Evidence of this should include: effective communication skills, ability to deal well with people, ability to problem solve, ability to appropriately confront issues, ability to motivate others as individuals and as a group, ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of others. 4. Demonstrates interest and enjoyment of work. 5. Minimum of 5 - 10 years of management experience with an in depth knowledge of cardiovascular surgery. CNOR preferred. 6. Active involvement in national professional organizations. 7. Demonstrated ability to manage staffing and material resources. Skilled in budget development. 8. Comprehensive knowledge of throughput and OR efficiency. 9. Background in Perioperative systems and new technology implementations. 10.
