SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under supervision of O.R. Management and following established procedures, assists with the care of the patient in the Operating Room by transporting and lifting/positioning for surgery. Cleaning and assisting in operating room turnovers and by performing general errands as required by team leader and charge nurses. Maintains general cleanliness and maintenance of the department.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Read, write and understand well enough to perform duties effectively.

2. Requires walking, lifting, pushing, etc. approxiamately eighty percent of the time

3. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously with patients, co-workers, diverse group of O.R. personnel and multiple nursing usint personnel.

4. Requires 3-6 week on the job training in order to become familiar with physical plant and O.R. procedures including principles of asepsis, operation of O.R. beds and equipment, case cart checking procedures, names of surgical instruments and equipment handling of O2 tanks.
