Or Scheduling Secretary - Surgery

The Department Secretary works under the direction of the O.R. Leader or Charge Nurse. the role of the Department Secretary is complex requiring the individual(s) to perform a variety of functions in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. These responsibilities include: (1) Scheduling cases in the O.R. suite based on the O.R. scheduling protocol, 2) Data Information Management 3) Communication hub. The O.R. scheduling guidelines are determined by the O.R. Committee. These guidelines cannot encompass every scheduling scenario. While some aspects of the guidelines are quite specific others are not and require the judgement and discretion of the scheduler. these guidelines may be modified on a case by case basis upon the discretion of the department Nurse Managers or Director and when appropriate in consultation with the Chief of Surgery and the Chief of Anesthesia.

Qualifications: Two year graduate or equivalent of the allied health profession or business with course work in computer technology/operation or equivalent. Course work in medical terminology. Excellent organizational skills/secretarial skills. Two years office experience in the medical field demonstrating an excellent understanding of medical terminology and computer operations.
