PEDIATRIC Rheumatology / Pain NURSE PRACTITIONER / Program Coordinator / 08-13802

Position Description:

1. See patients in the outpatient Pain clinic(s)2. See patients in the Day Hospital program3. Handle Patient / Family Phone calls· To assess if the child is still in pain, or with new/different symptoms· To assess if the child has been reinjured· To assess school issues· To coordinate care of patients who see multiple doctors, or who are on multiple medications4. Write Letters of Medical Necessity5. Attend family meetings6. Call in and write prescription renewals or changes7. Meet with parents whose children are in the Day Hospital program8. Education of nursing staff9. Assist with design and written educational material and content10. Make medication adjustments11. Enhance scheduling options (act as a physician extender)12. Screen the new patient packets to make sure the patient is appropriate for our services, and which services they will require13. Triage new urgent patients 14. Maintain continuity of care amongst the multitude of providers

Qualifications:

This is a Full-time position in the Rheumatology Division. License to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of PALicensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in the Commonwealth of PAEligibility for or possession of a national certification as a Nurse PractitionerGraduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Masters degree in Nursing. Minimum of 2 years pediatric nursing experience preferredAdvanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills for patients and families across all developmental levelsCritical analysis and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independentlyAbility to interpret laboratory and radiographic dataAbility to perform diagnostic and therapeutic proceduresAbility to work collaboratively through consultation with other health care team providersAbility to communicate verbally and in writing in English
