PFS/UNC Extended Business Office Manager

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS

This position is responsible for daily operational management and supervision of  the UNC Extended Billing Office of Patient Financial Services.This includes monitoring, analyzing and initiating actions on outstanding accounts to ensure Accounts Receivable is resolved in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.  This position prepares reports and analyzes findings in establishing an accounts receivables management plan. 

 

Maintain interface with UNC Hospital department heads and PFS management team to coordinate efforts in resolving problems and responding to inquiries promptly and accurately.  This involves analyzing the situation, developing, facilitating and recommending effective resolution strategies to execute an accounts receivable management plan.

 

Maintain interface with UNC Hospital department heads and managers to ensure compliance with billing regulations and guidelines.

 

Initiate and or respond to contact by third party insurance carriers, patients and employers in processing and resolving account issues including insurance verification, authorization of payment for services, and  obtaining account adjudication status.

 

Carries out supervisory, managerial and leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.  Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.





Education, Training and Experience



Requires a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Public Administration, or Hospital Administration and two years of progressively responsible experience in hospital accounts receivables and/or medical billing operations and familiarity with government and commercial accounts; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hospital management skills preferred.

 

Skills Required:  Training, ICD-9/CPT Coding, supervision, billing, collections and analytical skills
