POISON INFORMATION SPECIALIST / 08-14242

Position Description:

Through direct telephone consultation, provides logical and concise evaluations of potential poisonings and treatment recommendations to the lay public and/or health care professionals, utilizing standard poison information resources.

Qualifications:

Requires current licensure as a Pennsylvania registered nurse (BSN preferred) or registered pharmacist.Must be able to pass AAPCC Specialist in Poison Information Certification Examination.Command of medical terminology and diagnostics.Ability to calm and direct callers appropriately.Ability to prioritize, organize and evaluate data.Excellent communication skills.Pharmaceutical calculation skills.Clinical experience in a hospital or poison center environment, good computer skills, and a strong pharmacology background are preferred
