Minimum requirement of one year working in a related position within a social services agency. Bachelor's degree preferred. Knowledge of public benefits programs a must. An understanding of HIV/AIDS helpful. Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) desirable. Must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills. The Benefits Specialist reports to the Operations Manager. Primary responsibilities are counseling clients on public benefits such as Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Medi-Cal, Medicare and Private Insurance. The Benefits Specialist also enrolls and maintains CARE/HIPP and MEDI-CAL/HIPP applicants. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for yearly and as needed patient financial screenings and eligibility data input into mandated computer system. Works as a Liaison between the patients and case managers as well as providers. This is a full time position with excellent benefits.
