Payer Operations Manager

Located on the University of Maryland at Baltimore campus, near Camden Yards and Harbor attractions, University Physicians, Inc. (UPI) coordinates and supports the clinical activities of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. We employ over 900 non-physician staff who support the clinical practices of our faculty.

Currently, we are seeking a Payer Operations Manager to perform the following duties: evaluating PA compliance with payer requirements; interpreting payer changes and communicating changes; collaborating with payers and ITM for e-commerce transactions; serving as a central resource for provider credentialing and regulatory issues; serving as UPI liaison to Medicare carrier; acting as subject expert and liaison for specific project activities related to reimbursement; and other duties as assigned.

Qualified applicants will possess:  Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Business Management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience; minimum of 5 years experience in accounts receivable management in a medical practice; minimum 3 years experience in a management role, specifically handling business operations and HR issues; understanding and application of complex accounting principles; strong PC proficiency; knowledge of IDX or similar billing computerized billing system; knowledge of payers in Maryland; knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding; knowledge of FSC's and paycodes used in IDX, insurance plans, payer contractual requirements for the job; importance of compliance with all government regulations regarding billing.
