This position's primary role is to provide physical therapy service intervention through evaluation of the patient/resident's condition, and development and implementation of an individualized therapeutic treatment program promoting recovery. All treatment programs are developed and performed within the guidelines of department policy and professional standards. Throughout the patient/resident assessment and treatment the Physical Therapist maintains records on each individual treated. This position demonstrates competence in the care/treatment of patients in the age groups served by the area(s) in which it functions. The Physical Therapist position participates in the necessary professional activities to maintain licensure and strives for excellence in clinical practice and communication skills. This position trains and monitors the daily activities of the Physical Therapist Assistant, Certified Athletic Trainer and Rehab Services Aide, and provides input to the Rehabilitation Services Manager regarding their performance. Position available: Temporary Full-Time Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Evaluates patients, develops appropriate treatment plans as ordered by physician or other referral source, and administers and reevaluates treatment plans to help assure maximum patient benefit from the treatment program. Educates patients and/or family/caregiver to promote patient participation and attainment of therapeutic program goals. Provides training and work direction to Physical Therapist Assistant, Certified Athletic Trainer and students to assure that these positions are able to properly perform work assigned in the Physical Therapy area. Completes electronic or paper client record documentation and billing information, according to the professional standards of the department. Participates in interdisciplinary team planning. Provides individualized home programs with clear instructions. Presents educational programs/in-services for the department, hospital or community. Participates in new program development. Qualifications: Current Alaska Physical Therapist license; graduation from Physical Therapist baccalaureate, masters or doctorate degree program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (Foreign trained therapists receive equivalency evaluations during licensure process). Must be able to communicate effectively, in both oral and written formats.
