Physician Informatics Specialist

Physician Informatics Specialist Serving more than a half million patients each year, Mount Carmel is the second-largest healthcare system in central Ohio.  Our more than 8,000 employees and 1,500 physicians utilize state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technologies and the latest procedures to accomplish our mission of healing patients’ minds, bodies and spirits, and improving the health of the communities we serve.  We pursue that mission through four hospitals, as well as in outpatient facilities, physicians’ offices, surgery centers, urgent care centers, community outreach sites and homes throughout central Ohio.  We’re also dedicated to medical education, with six physician residency programs and Ohio’s fourth-largest baccalaureate nursing degree program.  This Information Resources position is focused on building relationships and working closely with the Medical Staff regarding their use of information systems.  The position also works closely with Information Resources staff regarding the enhancement/development of future application/versions that will provide physicians with improved use of clinical information. The Physician Informatics Specialist will:  -  Provide day-to-day support of existing or newly installed physician related applications-  Oversee or manage small to medium sized projects that result from issues arising from the Medical Staff members-  Develop and provide education solutions to physicians, their clinical/clerical staff, and related MCHS staff promoting better use of current applications-  Maintain effective communications amongst stakeholders. Candidates must have a degree in Nursing or Allied Health; five plus years demonstrated clinical experience working effectively with physicians; ability to work and communicate effectively with physicians, all levels of management and staff throughout the Mount Carmel Health System (MCHS) Integrated Delivery System (IDS); astute problem identification and problem solving skills; ability to work outside of the average eight hour day, seven days, twenty-four hours.  Must be self-directed and motivated with ability to: 1.) set priorities; 2.) function in high pressure situations; 3.) utilize negotiation skills that result in win/win situations; and 4.) direct multiple duties/projects simultaneously.  Prior extensive experience in interacting with physicians addressing computerized software applications. Mount Carmel – one of the Best Places to Work in Columbus – offers a competitive salary and benefits package including tuition assistance, a matched savings plan, medical/dental coverage, childcare discounts and more.
