The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance,is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center.

 

We are seeking an energetic person to serve as the patient’s and care provider’s main contact.  And to coordinate operations of a clinic geared towards multidisciplinary risk management of patients at increased risk of breast, ovarian, and/or GI cancers. 

 

Responsibilities:Review all referrals to the clinics.Personally interview all patients prior to visit, via telephone.  Synthesize clinical recommendations of multidisciplinary team into a summary letter for the patient. Track the need for follow-up appointments to the Cancer Prevention Program clinics, and ensure that they are made in a timely fashion. Coordinate operations of a clinic geared towards multidisciplinary risk management of patients at increased risk of breast, ovarian, and/or GI cancers. Work with SCCA clinic nurse manager and medical assistant to assure smooth clinic function during patient visits. Communicate closely with staff and faculty in Medical Genetics to assure smooth delivery of prevention services to patients seen in U.W. Division of Medical Genetics. Be educated on all clinical trials available for patient and actively develop relationships with groups running or developing clinical trials for this patient population.  Make referrals for appropriate clinical trials if patient has verified that they wish to be contacted about such opportunities. 

 

 Qualifications:

• BA or BS in related field; Clinical experience in medical genetics, oncology, cancer  risk assessment, preventive medicine or women’s health.

· Masters degree in Genetic Counseling preferred

· Certified Genetic Counselor through ABGC preferred
