Product Manager, Emergency Care Division (997)
Description
The position will be responsible for managing the product life cycle from idea to delivery, both on strategic and tactical levels for the Emergency Care Division product line. The Product Manager will help build products from existing ideas, as well as help to develop new ideas based on industry experience and contact with customers and prospects. This position requires the development of a product vision and the drive to make that vision a reality.
The responsibilities will range from identifying market and customer needs, to formulating these needs into business solutions and high level product requirements, providing on-going pre-sale and post-sale positioning and support, and collaborating on the product rollout.
The main goal of this position is to identify new viable products and ensure their successful incorporation into the Picis product line, as well as complete launch into the marketplace.
The Product Manager must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. It will require working with Product Marketing to define product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. The Product Manager will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for the product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers. Requires working closely with Product Development, Requirements & Usability, and Clinical Informatics to drive detailed product features and direction.
This position reports to the Director, Product Management, Emergency Care Division, and works directly with Product Development, Requirements & Usability, and Clinical Informatics.
The Product Manager will be responsible for the following:
* Conducting market research through prospects, customers and competitors
* Determining market requirements based on competitive analysis and customer / prospect feedback and developing product specifications
* Providing prioritized input to developers for new features, enhancements and fixes for existing products
* Interacting with senior management on market intelligence and go-to-market strategies
* Interacting with prospects and customers to gather feedback on products and to promote the benefits of products offered in support of sales efforts
* Management of the Service Pack and Patch process in determining the correct prioritization and resultant timeframes
* Active participation/management of clinical development meetings - work closely with Clinical Informatics on product priorities
* Engages with client services and support organization, as well as directly with customers on occasion for resolution of product related issues
* Conducting customer pilots, overseeing product rollout, and guiding marketing communication to create materials that will promote the products and support sales efforts
* Supporting trade shows, conferences and customer events
* Participate/coordinate ECD Picis exchange planning
* Participate in Picis/Lynx integration strategy
* Assist with sales education on new product features and answering day to day questions * Answer occasional RFP questions
* Work closely with product marketing to launch new products and updates to existing ones
* Travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America and Europe (20%) Required Skills
Education and Experience Required:
* Experience in the role of product manager for a healthcare software vendor preferred
* Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical/healthcare field
* Experience with a Emergency Department Information System &/or in depth knowledge of the emergency environment.
* Department process management and all associated environments: emergency department workflow automation, patient documentation requirements for nursing, physicians, consultants, and ancillary departments, as well as integration requirements/dependencies. Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface to all levels of an organization
* Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
* Exceptionally strong project management and organizational skills
* Experience launching new products into an established product line and managing new products through their lifecycle
* Demonstrable understanding of analysis and documentation skills; gathering, writing and communicating detailed requirements
* Must enjoy spending time in the market to understand market, prospects and customer problems and identify innovative solutions.
