Product Support Engr

This position is given minimal supervision by the Engineering Services Manager. Position is responsible for developing and recommending improvements in the manufacturing system and in product manufacturability, quality and cost effectiveness. The major responsibility is to provide a link between Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve issues and problems relating to performance and manufacturability of products. Incumbent advises Engineering of production capabilities, equipment, facilities and standard practices in relation to the development of designs, modifications and revisions. Ensures these responsibilities and customer and/or company standards requirements are achieved by reviewing and evaluating new product designs or revising existing designs. Interactions with all departments of the company are required to complete the assigned tasks. Position may be required to design circuit boards, supervise in the absence of the manager and instruct new employees in the Engineering Services Department. Incumbent must practice good oral and written communication skills for this position. Understand and support Spacelabs Healthcare's mission, priorities and company values. • Ensures the timely and smooth transition of new products from Product Development to Manufacturing. • Interfaces with Research and Development and acts as liaison to Operations support groups. Conducts prototype builds, tracks first articles and verifies all release documentation. • Works with manufacturing groups to maintain current BOM for assigned products and upgrade, format and verify accuracy of BOM. • Monitors manufacturing processes, procedures and practices by maintaining contact with product/process, and keeps updated on regulatory standards to ensure product complies with regulatory standards and Spacelabs policies. • Provides value engineering for assigned products by monitoring manufacturing cost, schedule and quality performance to plan, and acts to resolve problems and reduce costs via process improvements, sequencing improvements and such other techniques as are determined appropriate in regards to component souring, production processes and procedures. • Coordinates training and instruction to manufacturing technicians and assemblers to raise expertise level by supplying technical infuriation and instruction on building assemblies and circuit boards. • Builds and documents test fixtures to assure and verify performance of products for manufacturing test areas per established specification and information received from Research and Development. • Defines testing criteria and confirms testability of products by following pre-set specifications to ensure consistent results and examining circuit performance to assure compliance to established procedures and specifications. • Identifies issues and problems that require Engineering Orders to resolve, examine and recommend changes in process and procedures to eliminate redundant operations and streamline production process. • Reduces reject levels of components and assemblies through investigation and recommendations for corrective actions or engineering changes. • Verifies specifications contained in EOs, updates test procedures and proofs drawing and testing data for alternate sources of electrical components. • Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications: • Five years experience working with design controls is required, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is preferable. • Proficiency with MS Office required. • Proficiency with Agile required. • Proficiency with MFGPro required. • Must be very detailed oriented. • Excellent communication and presentation skills; listening, written and verbal.
