SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This is technical work in the development and analysis of computer software. Work includes analysis and modifications of existing software and the design, testing, implementing, and documenting of new software to accommodate changing demands, procedures, and technology. Work is performed under minimal supervision usually under the direction of a Senior systems analyst or Manager. Overall job performance is reviewed by the Manager, through observation and discussion of results obtained.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field, and approximately two years experience in a current programming language, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

2. Considerable knowledge of the capabilities, programming techniques, and intricacies of a computer and its peripheral equipment. A thorough understanding of the functioning of computers in a networked environment.

3. Considerable knowledge of appropriate programming language.

4. Considerable knowledge of practices, procedures, and equipment used in computer operations. Basic skills in the use and operation of a PC workstation including related software such as word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, project management, and scheduler.

5. Considerable knowledge of program development tools such as editors and various utilities.

6. Ability to reason, think logically, analyze problems, and develop technical solutions.

7. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and computer users.

9. Ability to respond to changing demands, priorities, procedures and technology.
