R&D Engineer

Our Client, a Major Healthcare Company, located in White Plains, NY, Currently has an opening for a R&D Engineer.As part of the Technology Innovation team, will provide technical leadership and project management of cross functional teams researching and evaluating key technologies and intellectual property (IP) for application in the field of Health Care. Technologies and product concepts developed internally or acquired externally will feed the product development pipeline.


In this position the incumbent will be required to evaluate the theoretical, practical, and clinical feasibility of advanced technologies and make clear and concise recommendations for technology acquisitions and development strategies. The incumbent must make sound technical decisions involving internal research and external research collaborations.


• Perform applied research and advanced development of technologies and systems for future Health Care products.
• Generate IP to protect future Health Care products.
• Evaluate outside technology and IP opportunities for technical feasibility and strategic value and participate in technical due diligence for technology and business acquisitions.
• Initiate and manage outside technology collaborations with academic and industrial partners.
• Organize and execute clinical and pre-clinical evaluations of in vivo sensors and other Health Care technologies. Be the primary liaison between Technology Innovation and the Clinical Trial department.
• Serve as a technical reviewer for other research and development projects.
• Help manage the Company IP portfolio by identifying patent infringements and out-licensing opportunities.
• Provide project management for advanced technology feasibility projects


Required Education: PhD in Engineering or Science.



Specific Skills Required:

A minimum of Ten years of academic research, or industrial experience is preferred.
Specific experience in, biomedical research, medical device, Pharmaceutical development, and physiology is highly desirable. Experience in organizing or running complex clinical trials is critical. The ideal candidate will have good technical skills and a proven track record of R&D accomplishments. The rapidly changing field of Health Care demands that the candidate have a diverse skill set and be highly adaptable. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be capable of self directed research and be comfortable in a multidisciplinary team environment. Experience with IP management or business development is a strong plus. Specific experience in glucose sensors or product systems is also a very strong plus.
