R.N. Urgent Care Staff/Triage Nurse

Urgent Care Staff/Triage Nurse- Associate Degree or B.S.N. Current California RN license, CPR/ACLS required. Outpatient clinical & urgent/emergent triage experience preferred. IV Skills. Efficiently able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to support health care delivery and the daily operational flow of the department within the RN scope of practice. Identifies and provides triage and/or advice to patients with urgent/emergent medical problems, answers questions regarding medications, informs and counsels patients with abnormal lab results. Clinical skills to provide patient care and advice. Skills at identifying problems and recommending solutions. Reports changes in a patient's condition promptly and appropriately to the physician. Mobilizes resources during a crisis. Training in all back office procedures: vital signs, injections, EKG's, Visual screening, sterile set-up, some on-site laboratory testing. Medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, medical procedures, medical testing, hazardous waste precautions, some CPT&ICD9 coding, extensive knowledge of disease processes, lab values, pharmacology, abuse and chemical dependency recognition, psychosocial issues & community health resources. Knowledge of safety & patient confidentiality. Principals of managed care, medical triage and ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Use of fax machines, multi-line telephones, copier, computer skills. record keeping on current electronic medical record system. Excellent Customer Service relations. Ability to work independently, tack, diplomacy, follow-up, teamwork, and attention to detail. Ability to perform appointment scheduling and other routine patient information retrieval on the current electronic medical record computer software program is required. Spanish speaking is helpful. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs, pushing patient in wheelchair, standing, stooping, bending and walking for up to 8 hours per day. Qualified candidates must have: Diploma, AD, BSN or higher from an accredited school of nursing. Current RN licensure from the State of California. Current B.C.L.S. and Current A.C.L.S. Minimum of two-years experience working as a RN - preferred. Variable work schedule, days, evenings and every other weekend. Thorough knowledge of nursing process, clinical procedures, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills. Excellent Customer Services Skills. * Must be flexible to work evening and weekend hours.
