$44.54 - $61.32 hourly $3,563.18 - $4,905.26 biweekly $7,720.21 - $10,628.05 monthly $92,642.58 - $127,536.66 annually THIS WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED AND MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME The Riverside County Information Technology department is seeking a Radio Communications Engineer II for their Communications Bureau. The most highly qualified candidates will be invited for an interview. This position will perform varied and difficult professional radio communications engineering work which may involve planning, design, construction, surveying, or frequency licensing and/or radio frequency interference; provide technical direction, instruction and/or training to field technicians. This is the senior level in the radio communications engineer series. This work is characterized by the requirement for independently performing the full scope of radio Land Mobile telecommunications engineering or providing technical direction and guidance to a small team of professional and sub-professional personnel, with full responsibility for any combination of design, planning, specification writing, plan review, or inspection necessary for the completion of projects. Examples Of Duties: *Prepare the design drawings; prepare specifications and related contract documents to be used in advertising construction projects for bids, composing articulate Requests For Proposals (RFP) *Provide technical information to officials of other governmental jurisdictions, other engineers and the public; coordinate communication interfaces with federal, state and local agencies and/or vendors; work with public utility companies in matters of facility relocation and right-of-way *Engineer and design conventional and trunked radio and microwave systems, towers, sites and antennae systems; advise and assist with the 800 MHz System planning design, repair and maintenance *Install, configure and maintain radio communications components; troubleshoot system failures, performance deficiencies and circuit/wiring issues *Isolate faults and analyze complex system failures and performance degradation and effects or advise on system recovery/restoration/repair, either remotely or in the field * Plan strategic and tactical disaster recovery survival scenarios based on different threat levels; develop and control security mechanisms to ensure against unauthorized access to the system software and databases *Initiate, review and analyze complex system performance and reliability measurements and reports *Function as Project Manager on assigned projects; maintain records and prepare/submit reports and correspondence as required by immediate supervisor Typical Qualifications: Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or a related field. Qualifying experience may be a substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Experience:Seven years of professional telecommunications industry (700 MHz, 800MHz, VHF, or 4.9 GHz) experience including two years of planning, design, and construction of radio communications projects. Experience must include working with large, multi-site radio and/or microwave networks (conventional and/or trunked radio systems).
