About Caritas Norwood (CNH): Caritas Norwood Hospital (CNH) is a licensed 264-bed community hospital serving 16 towns stretching southwest from Boston to Rhode Island. CNH joined the Caritas Christi health Care system in November 1997. In 1902, Eben Norton, MD, opened a small hospital on Washington Street with an operating room, five beds and a nurse. The modest beginning inspired local philanthropist, George Willet, and town leaders to establish Norwood Hospital as a chartered health care facility in 1919. Today, key services include obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, advanced surgery, cancer care, behavioral health, imaging, and emergency services.
 



POSITION SUMMARY: Caritas Norwood Hospital, a licensed 264-bed community hospital serving 16 towns stretching southwest from Boston to Rhode Island is seeking a great RN Leader to oversee Professional Practice, Education and Research for the Nursing Department! Reporting to the Vice President of Patient Care Services, The Director of Professional Practice, Education and Research is responsible and accountable for the development, implementation, and evaluation of education and support programs, including but not limited to orientation and competency based clinical education programs to create the highest level of quality patient care. The Director coordinates and oversees all clinical affiliations with academic teaching institutions.

The individual will oversee, mentor and motivate a staff of 9, including a Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and a Staff Development Assistant. Work closely with staff to identify their learning needs, and in collaboration with the Patient Care Services Team, develop educational programs and activities to meet those needs. Establish processes for measuring the effectiveness of continuing education activities, and identify and facilitate improvements and changes to the programs.

Coordinate JCAHO compliance initiatives, and ensure safety standards are being met. Develop, maintain and monitor the delivery of excellence in patient care, through participation in our ongoing Service Excellence program initiatives with the Studer Group.




ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as liaison between the hospital and academic teaching institutions.



Oversee the nursing student programs to develop a positive experience for students.



Improve and expand on existing student clinical programs and establish and maintain professional relationships with new institutions.



Participate in process and performance improvement initiatives.



Integrate relevant research outcomes into nursing professional development practice through effective educational activities.



In collaboration with various Department Directors, develop, implement and evaluate an education plan for all employees and departments within the hospital, while meeting the needs of employees, and assuring that patient satisfaction is an integral part of the interdisciplinary educational plan.



Participate and chair appropriate committees, and perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the Vice President of Patient Care Services.






QUALIFICATIONS:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Massachusetts



Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing or related field are required



A minimum of five years of healthcare management experience in an acute care setting



Experience within nursing development and education



Must have excellent leadership, problem solving, and communication skills
