ENDOSCOPY RN – Various Status’ and Shifts Salem Hospital’s Endoscopy Department is committed to delivering the highest quality care in the field of gastroenterology and pulmonology, making us the first choice for care. We are currently seeking a dynamic, experienced, team-oriented and quality focused RN to join the Endoscopy Department.  The unit features the state-of-the art endoscopic technologies including the endo-bronchial ultrasound. Our GI and pulmonology lab features three procedure suites dedicated to GI and one specific for bronchoscopies. Current needs for the department are primarily the 10:30 am – 7:00 pm shift with the flexibility to shift schedule as needed to meet patient care needs. Treat yourself to a career with variety! And it just might be the right place for you!The RN has the opportunity to collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.  He/she assesses, plans and evaluates the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after the procedure. Provides nursing care to the patient undergoing endoscopic procedures.  Participates in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation. Carries out physician orders.  Administers prescribed medications, monitors vital signs.  Assists physician during examination and procedures. Coordinates the procedure room with respect to sterility, cleanliness, availability of functioning endoscopic equipment and supplies. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.  Instructs and educates patients and families. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates knowledge of general computer skills and willingness to learn EPIC (electronic medical record). Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information. Works autonomously, sets priorities, and makes independent decisions of a complex nature. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Participates in patient/family teaching Accepts shift work and takes call as needed by the department. Proficient in skills related to Documentation, Assessment, Critical thinking, and Medication administration. Must have the ability to hold in confidence any information regarding patients, personnel, or any other matters which are confidential in nature. Ability to handle multiple priorities and concerns easily while working in a busy, multidisciplinary setting. Requires self-direction and the ability to exercise judgment in prioritizing, accuracy and promptness.Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited nursing program, preferably with a Bachelor’s degree. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse through the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Minimum of one (1) year critical care nursing experience strongly preferred. ACLS required. Takes call as needed/ assigned to provide coverage for urgent/ emergent procedures.
