RN, ONCOLOGY, FT DAYS Requirements Role Summary: Provides leadership which facilitates the delivery of professional nursing care for the comfort and well being of patients. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Implements medically prescribed interventions.Essential Accountabilities:1. Oversees the delivery of patient care for a group of patients, and directs and delegates patient care based on patient acuity and staff availability.Performance Criteria: 1. Completes acuity classification process accurately on all patients by designated time. 2. Makes patient care assignments equitably, based on patient acuity, and according to scope of practice and competency level of staff. (Applies to all RNs)2. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes and adjusts nursing care processes indicated to adhere to legal, ethical, and clinical standards.Performance Criteria: 1. Formulates plan of care based on patient assessment and identified needs. 2. Plans/anticipates prioritizes and monitors delivery of care through critical reasoning based on patient needs response and progress. 3. Delivers care in an organized manner according to patient's schedule, needs and acuity. 4. Delivers patient medications, IV solutions, and treatments accurately, safely and timely. 5. Delegates to other licensed and unlicensed staff according to scope of practice and competency of staff. 6. Evaluates patient response and revises care plan as needed. 7. Documents in an accurate and timely manner, according to policy, procedure, and practice guidelines.3. Collaborates and consults with patients, colleagues and interdisciplinary team members to achieve desired outcomes.Performance Criteria: 1. Provides input to and leads nursing rounds and interdisciplinary team meetings when appropriate. 2. Regularly documents and reports data, patient response and progress according to department guidelines. 3. Individualizes patient teaching and care plan based on patient's needs. 4. Helps to achieve desired outcomes by serving as an advocate for patients and families. 5. Identifies problems and implements measures to meet needs of patients and families throughout continuum of care.4. Provides education for self, staff, colleagues, patients, and/or families.Performance Criteria: 1. Identifies staff learning needs and implements plan to meet those needs, or communicates to appropriate person or department. 2. Precepts new staff and students, as/if assigned. (Use supplemental Preceptor Accountability for all Preceptors meeting requirements) 3. Validates competency of staff, as indicated. 4. Provides and documents individualized patient and family education in an accurate and timely manner.(Supplement for all preceptors meeting requirements)5. Facilitates and/or provides a precepted orientation experience for all new staff. Performance Criteria: 1. Provides for successful orientation of new staff by facilitating the orientee's socialization into the workgroup and for new graduates, into staff nursing. 2. Facilitates and plans learning activities/experiences for the orientee by assessing learning needs, styles and preferences. 3. Establishes measurable goals in collaboration with orientee. 4. Implements learning by communicating daily assignment needs with Nursing Unit Supervisor/management team. 5. Evaluates performance on an ongoing basis. 6. Serves as a role model without corrective disciplinary actions and evidenced also by MERIT Standards of Performance evaluation. 7. Maintains and demonstrates current clinical expertise by either obtaining 8 hours of continuing education or providing 1 in-service yearly or maintaining national certification.The following accountabilities may be reassigned:6. Completes other duties to support departmental operations as assigned or requested.Required Education: Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing and National CertificationRequired License: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of nursing or Compact State as defined by NC Board or Nursing, BCLSPreferred License: NoneRequired Experience: No experiencePreferred Experience: One-year hospital experience* Apply to this job
