Under the supervision of the Cancer Service Line Administrator and Radiation Therapy Supervisor, this position administers the prescribed therapeutic radiation dose to a predetermined treatment area for patients. The incumbent is also accountable for the localization procedures necessary for preparing the patients for radiation treatments. The incumbent provides support, education and teaching to cancer patients and their families and may be required to assist with secretarial tasks. NATURE AND SCOPE: The incumbent is challenged to evaluate and prioritize his/her job and must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients and meets standards of quality as measure by the unit/department age specific competency standards. The incumbent is challenged to be exceedingly accurate in all tasks, realizing the effects of his/her tasks. The incumbent can ultimately be responsible for administering radiation, performing localization, basic dosimetry, custom block fabrication, record keeping, performing nursing and secretarial support and other related tasks. The position is required to operate linear accelerators and simulators and perform basic dosimetry via computer. This position must also operate a computerized record and verify system. This position is responsible to annually demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety and CPR. In addition, the position requires skin instruction proficiency, filing and phone and charting skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Must have completed an accredited radiation therapy program Requires the ability to read, write and speak English effectively.Must have basic computer knowledge Experience:  Applicants must be registered or registry eligible in radiation therapy License/Certification:  ARRT registered or registry eligible (registration must be obtained within first year of Employment; AHA BLS certification
