Come join our Team!  SunBridge Care & Rehab for Playa Del Rey has an opening for a full time Recreation Director at our 99 bed center located in Playa Del Rey, CA.  Applicants must be creative, fun loving, motivated, a multi-tasker and organized.  Therapeutic Recration Degree preferred but not required.  We offer competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to develop, plan, organize and direct the implementation of activity/recreation programs in accordance with current state and federal guidelines and regulations, and the corporation policies and procedures. Programs shall be scheduled on a daily basis and be designed to meet in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well being of each resident.

 

Essential Position Duties

1. Develops or participates in developing a cohesive nutritional team by leading, motivating and supporting staff in daily operation.

2. Supports a positive and professional image through leadership activities that emulate the

organization’s mission statement encourages a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.

3. Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of personnel for the

activity/recreation department.

4. Schedules department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, etc., to expedite work.

5. Supervises and directs subordinate employees in their work, in the interest of the employer, using independent judgment and discretion, regarding duties. Initiates and executes constructive discipline and performance evaluations in accordance with SunBridge Human Resource policies and procedures.

9. Sufficient computer skills required to perform duties.

 

Professional Experience/Educational Requirements

1. Qualified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (or)

a. Activities professional who is licensed or registered either nationally or by the state in which practicing and eligible for certification as an Activity Professional or as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by a recognized accrediting body on or After October 1, 1990, (or)

b. Possess 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5

years, which was full time in a Resident activities program in a health care setting; or

be a qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapist Assistant (or) c. Successfully completed a training course approved by the state.

2. Bachelor degree in Therapeutic Recreation preferred.

3. High School diploma or equivalent.

4. Resident transfers skill training (for outing purposes).
