Job Status: Part Time, Employee Job Category: Medical/Health Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Mission and Contribution of this position: Description General SummaryUnder the guidance of the Respiratory Care Supervisor or Clinician, and according to specific instructions and established Departmental Policies and Procedures, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides care to those suffering from acute and chronic respiratory problems. The Registered Respiratory Therapist delivers care to individuals in all age categories, including geriatric, adult, and adolescents and in a limited capacity to pediatrics and the newborn. The Registered Respiratory Therapist acts as a physician's assistant in consulting on specific patient care for respiratory therapy procedures. Minimum Job Qualifications Minimum Education: Two Year Degree Preferred Education: Two Year Degree Can you substitute experience for education: No Minimum years in field previous to employment: 0 Preferred number of years in field: Equipment operated includes ventilators, non-invasive and invasive monitors, and therapeutic devices. Minor trouble-shooting is required, though actual repair of equipment is not performed. Skill level for operating this equipment must be extensive. 1. Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care. 2. Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Texas 3. Certified and/or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist is recommended if assigned to Pulmonary Function Lab. Licensure, Certification and/or Registration (LCR):1. Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care. 2. Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Texas 3.
