SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Responsible for developing census at his/her respective facility and sister facilities. Promotes a positive image of his/her respective facility, sister facilities, and Extendicare in the community-at-large.  Provides timely and accurate information to the appropriate facility team members regarding referrals and admissions.  POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of this position involve physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 60 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and twisting.  The tasks on this position description marked with an asterisk (*) are those that regularly require these physical activities.  All employees of nursing homes may be required to provide lifting and transfer assistance to residents.  Lifting and/or transferring some residents will require use of a lifting device and /or assistance of other staff   Essential Functions   Develops a facility-specific sales and marketing plan. *Is engaged in a minimum or 80% outside sales. *Cultivates referral/inquiries through business development tactics. *Completes assigned number of in-person sales calls. *Initiates and maintains referral-source relationships. Responds immediately to inquiries/referrals.  Follows Green-Yellow-Red Admission Protocol. *Gathers pertinent referral/inquiry information and performs diligent follow up with objective to close business. Coordinates pre-admission process to include clinical assessments with identification of pharmaceutical and DME requirements, financial information, patient/resident/responsible party introductions with facility staff, and required federal/state/county approvals. Obtains information and approvals required from a clinical and financial perspective consistent with Extendicare’s pre-admission process. Documents all necessary information in an accurate and timely manner. Manages inquiry process in a professional manner with objective to close business. Ensures that professional, sales-oriented tours of facility are conducted for potential patients/resident/responsible parties and referral sources. Ensures that admission paperwork is complete by the end of the next business day following admission. *Analyzes marketplace on a continual basis. Completes required tracking information in Sales and Marketing Handbook. Participates, as needed, in daily stand up meeting to update facility personnel on referrals, admissions, tours, and follow up tasks. Informs Administrator and Regional Director of Sales and Marketing of all referral issues, market changes, and challenges to census development. *Trains admission back-up team on inquiry process, tours, and admission paperwork. Ensures continual coverage (twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week) for the admission process to take place. *Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and act in accordance with Extendicare Health Services, Inc.’s Corporate Compliance Program. Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy. *Performs physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 60 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and twisting. *Attends and participates in inservice training, performance improvement (“PI”) committees and other meetings as scheduled and directed. *Works overtime, holiday and weekend hours as scheduled. Follows facility dress and hygiene policies. Safety  · Knows and follows facility rules.  · *Demonstrates proper use of equipment.  · Reports equipment needs or repairs.  · Follows facility smoking policies.· Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate facility personnel.  · Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Supervisor.  · *Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster Plan.  · Uses required protective equipment.  ·  Follows infection control standards, policies and procedures. Resident Rights  · Knows Resident Rights.  · Helps the residents/patients exercise and/or protect their rights.  · Reports resident/patient complaints to management.  ·  Maintains confidentiality of resident/patient information. HIPAA  · Follows and adheres to Extendicare’s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.  · Uses and/or discloses only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. (Applies only if position requires access to PHI under Role Based Access Grid.)  · Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to Facility Privacy Designee.   Other Duties · *Performs other duties as directed by facility management.  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES   Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements. Ability to make outside sales calls. Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff.  Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Possesses a valid driver’s license and has access to a vehicle. Meets all health requirements, as required by law. Sales and marketing experience, preferably in a health care setting.   This position will cover both the Bremerton and Island facilities.
