Registered Nurse - Ante/Post Partum, Part Time

Overview: General Description The Antepartum/Postpartum unit professionals provide care and support in a safe environment to postpartum patients, newborn and their families. Nurses also provide a nurturing and supportive atmosphere to those patients experiencing a need for closer observation and hospitalization during pregnancy. Accessibility to diagnostic lab services to assess fetal and maternal well-being, screening diagnostic ultrasound, antepartum testing and fetal surveillance is also offered. Department Philosophy As a family focused unit, members of the Antepartum/Postpartum staff participate in providing care that is safe, nurturing, therapeutic, outcome-focused and efficient. Desired patient assignment is based on acuity. Nursing works closely with physician staff in planning patient care and maintains a positive, collaborative relationship with staff throughout the hospital along the continuum of care. Staff is encouraged to actively participate in unit-based quality assurance and process improvement programs. These activities optimize standards for patient care as well as promote accountability and growth necessary for a productive and professional work environment. Job Description Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with facility and department policies and in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by staff or others who are under his/her direction. The Clinical Nurse utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of patients in the Labor/Delivery Unit. Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in couplet care is preferred.
