SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Research Nurse Coordinator position involves many aspects of research coordination. This includes collaboration with the Principle Investigator, Program Coordinator, Study Center, and relevant MMC Departments. The primary responsibilities include study coordination and acting as a hospital educator/resource person for studies.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine .

2. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families and other healthcare providers. Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines and departments.

3. Knowledge of current research related policies and procedures as well as appropriate process for initiating revisions.

4. Thorough knowledge of the theory, practice, principles, process, and issues of professional nursing usually acquired through one to two years of clinical experience. BSN required, and MS or MN strongly recommended. CCRC preferred.

5. Analytical ability sufficient to identify patients at risk and initiate appropriate action.

6. Knowledge of the MMC organizational structure, roles, relationships, and the department's relationship within the hospital.
