The Cardiovascular Division of the University of Miami is conducting groundbreaking clinical trials of new therapies for heart disease. Studies include percutaneous catheter heart valve replacement; high-risk coronary intervention with ventricular assist devices; cell therapy for myocardial infarction; and the genetics of cardiomyopathies, atherosclerosis, and other cardiovascular diseases. The Cardiovascular Division is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse I to coordinate clinical operations and research projects. This person will participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating new investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical research studies. The qualified candidate will work under the general supervision of physicians and the Nurse Manager responsible for the clinical trials. The incumbent will be responsible for review and assess research protocols for feasibility, coordinate and assist in contract and budget negotiations with the sponsor, prepare and submit IRB-required documents, obtain Informed Consents and HIPPA forms, interaction with sponsor and/or CRO, assist research team in subject recruitment strategies, develop metrics to evaluate site performance and assist in strategic planning activities. Other duties include coordinating clinical studies activities, obtain and review medical records for potential research subjects, and written consent with the assistance of the Principal Investigator and/or co-investigators, perform nursing assessments and monitoring subjects progress during clinical trials, perform and/or oversee a variety of clinical duties that may include: blood draws, and processing of blood serum, urine, and chemistries, assisting in EKGs, and recording the results in the subject case report forms, prepare and/or oversee the preparation of biological specimens for shipment to reference laboratory and centrifugation of hazardous biological and chemical materials..



A Bachelors Degree in Nursing and a Valid/Current Florida Registered Nurse License required. Current CPR, HIV, Domestic Violence, Medical Errors certifications required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience as a Research Nurse required. Three (3) years of patient care as a Registered nurse, one additional year of experience specific to the area of specialty when applicable. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
