Research Project Assistant II/Psychiatry

 Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a state-of-the-art, 920 bed, tertiary acute care academic medical center affiliated with the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles, is committed to excellence in compassionate patient care, research, and community programs to improve the lives of our patients.  We are proud to be ranked as one of America’s top hospitals in U.S. News and World Report’s 2007 Honor Roll.Summary of Essential Job Duties: Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinical Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience and the program’s Neuropsychologhist, the Psychometrist administers, scores and reports on a battery of psychological and cognitive assessments for the AIDS and Aging Research Program.  This position will administer neuropsychological tests, psychosocial surveys and psychiatric interviews, which include but are not limited to the  following: sociodemographic and psychosocial questionnaires, a formal neuropsychological test battery, other paper and pencil measures of mood, functional status measures; the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (SCID) for Axis I psychopathology; the SIGHAD (anxiety and depression rating scales); the Folstein Mini-Mental Status Examination; and the HIV Dementia Scale, Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale Revised (Vocabulary, Digit Span, Digit Symbol, Block Design Subtests); the HIV Dementia Scale (HDS), the Controlled Oral Word Association Test (letters and categories); California Verbal Learning Test, Wechsler Memory Scale – Revised Logical Memory and Visual Reproduction Subtests; Trail Making Tests A and B; computer version of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test; the Stroop Color-Word Test; computer-presented reaction time tasks; and the Grooved Pegboard.  The Psychometrist will maintain the testing rooms in a neat and orderly manner, maintain hardcopies of all assessments, and produce memos and study correspondence as necessary.  Performs other related duties as assigned or required.Requirements/Experience: Minimum BA or BS degree required (MA/MS preferred).  Minimum 2 years experience working with neuropsychological and computerized cognitive testing and experience in administering and scoring psychosocial instruments and interviews to measure mood and psychopathology.  Additional training will be provided, if needed, to administer and score remaining tests.  Ability to interact professionally with a diverse population.  Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.  Experience and ability to establish rapport with young and older adults who are HIV seropositive is preferred.  Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, physicians, families, pharmaceutical companies, and other study personnel.  Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and have the ability to be consistently accurate, legible, and timely.  Ability to work independently.  Strong organizational skills.
