Research Specialist

Job Summary: The work in the group of Joshua Dudman draws upon experimental and computational approaches to investigate the processing of sensory and motor information in the nervous system of the rodent. We use two-photon imaging and electrophysiology both in vitro and in vivo to better understand how sensory and motor information is integrated to produce adaptive behavior. Principal Responsibilities: Involved in designing, conducting, and optimizing experiments. Responsibilities will include genetic manipulations of identified neurons and development of imaging and electrophysiological techniques. In close collaboration with other labs at Janelia Farm and visitors from outside institutions, we are developing a number of approaches to bridge the gap between the optical and electrical techniques originally developed in vitro and those currently used in vivo. Preferred Qualifications: Masters of Science degree in an appropriate field of science or technology, or equivalent in education and experience; PhD a plus. Must have a strong background in experimental biology. Prior experience with molecular biology, electrophysiology, two-photon imaging, and/or rodent behavior is preferred.
