Research Specialist (Electrophysiology)

Job Summary: This position will focus on in vivo and brain slice electrophysiology using the rodent as a model organism. Principal Responsibilities: Conduct research on in vivo and brain slice electrophysiology using the rodent as a model organism. Integrate electrophysiology with optical stimulation techniques using channelrhodopsin-2. Record single units from molecularly-defined cell types that influence feeding behavior. Focus on characterizing neural circuits using channelrhodopsin assisted circuit mapping where axons originating from molecularly-defined cell populations can be selectively activated to measure synaptic properties and plasticity. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in an appropriate field of science or technology. Minimum of 5 years related experience with either single unit recordings in vivo or whole cell patch clamp in brain slices. Requires working knowledge of Matlab for data analysis.
