Residential Counselor - Adult Detox Stepdown

Thayer PASSages Program is Community Healthlink's newest program providing services within the agency's adult detoxification services continuum. As a post detoxification service, the program provides intensive, community based, short term (up to 30 days), residential, group and individual treatment for individuals experiencing addiction issues. The program serves adult men and women; length of stay is based on medical necessity. While in the program, individuals gain stability and the necessary skills to assist in transitioning into a sober lifestyle. In addition to intensive clinical treatment, PASSages also provides case management services to assists individuals with developing comprehensive aftercare plans.

 

FT (37.5 hrs/wk) Residential Counselor to:Serve as primary residential counselor for specified number of residents as requested by supervisor.Conduct admissions interviews and initial assessments for review by Clinical Team.Implement regularly scheduled and ongoing programming for residents in accordance with BSAS and agency policies and procedures.Work with residents to assist with activities of daily living including includes self-care skills, money management and budgeting, relapse prevention, use of public transportation, problem solving and conflict resolution, and other interventions as necessary - all to assist residents with developing a level of confidence and safety in the community.Provide interventions as outlined in the treatment plan as assigned under supervision of Program Director.Monitor residents' self-medication, refills, documentation of medications and changes, ensure safe storage of medications, assist with residents attendance at appointments and compliance with recommendations for medical care.Lead at least one psycho-educational development or recreational group per week as assigned.Attend team meetings and case conferences, and collaborate with other providers for designated residents. Provide outreach as designated to community-based residents.Prepare daily log entries, incident reports and other required paperwork to ensure the program meets the quality assurance and licensure standards.Work with residents to maintain the residence on a daily basis including chores, bedroom upkeep and other light housekeeping duties in residents' personal areas. Perform other related professional duties as assigned in order to provide quality rehabilitation services. These duties may include transporting residents, program related errands, close supervision of residents, and related duties. implement program policies and procedures in order to maintain daily structure and consistency within the program milieu and maintain compliance with DPH licensing standards. Qualifications: HSD/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred. Degree or course work in psychology, sociology, social work or related field a plus. LADC I or LADC II or equivalent experience required. Familiarity with 12-Step programming preferred. Prior work in human services and/or prior experience with population and advocacy preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and develop positive professional relationships with clients and co-workers. Must be committed to providing quality care, able to work within team setting and be proven self-starter. Valid MA driver's license and registered automobile required.
