Respiratory Therapy Student - Respiratory Therapy

The Respiratory Therapy Student works under the direction of the Supervisor of Respirator Care Services, the Night Shift Lead Therapist (from 1900 to 0730 a.m.), the Charge Therapist and the Respiratory Therapists in providing all medically sanctioned therapeutic, supportive and monitoring modalities to patients as prescribed by physicians or their representatives or by departmental protocols in all areas of the hospitals. The Respiratory Therapy Student is required to work all shifts as needed and to vary assigned schedules as needed in order to provide adequate coverage and attend meetings and inservices relevant to the job. They are required to quickly adapt to technical advances in the field and learn new equipment and procedures as they are introduced. At all times, the Respiratory Therapy Student is required to deliver high quality therapeutic, supportive and monitoring care in a cost efficient and timely manner. At all times they are required to act in a professional and courteous manner in interacting with patients, patient families, visitors, other members of the hospital staff and physicians.

Qualifications: Student actively pursuing credentials which qualify for licensure and BCLS Certification. Good mechanical aptitude. Three hundred (300) to five hundred (500) clinical hours as a student are preferred.
