SR. SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Senior Systems Programmer is responsible to the Manager, Technical Services. Serves as project manager for major systems software installation and upgrades. Makes tailoring decisions such that the most efficient use is made of computer resources. Resolves complex system software problems. Serves as a technical resource to and assists the Manager Technical Services in training Systems Programmers. This individual assesses, plans, installs, implements, tunes, and evaluates Systems software requirements for all operations according to own technical expert judgment, policies, procedures, and standards. The Sr. Systems Programmer is responsible for partnering with the staff to contribute to achievement of hospital and department goals and objectives. The Sr. Systems Programmer has technical expert knowledge of managing complex systems, including performance tuning and capacity planning. Must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient, customer, and employee satisfaction. May perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Preferred: Required: Extensive knowledge of IBM Z/OS architecture and utilities. Strong interpretive/analytical skills. Ability to manage projects. Strong verbal and writing skills. EDUCATION: Preferred: Bachelors Degree Required: 2 year (A.A.) degree EXPERIENCE: Preferred: Required: Minimum 5 years as a Systems Programmer (If STEP or PTD and normally scheduled to work less than 40 hours per pay period, must have minimum of one year full time experience in acute care hospital.)
