Description

EMD Serono is aggressively increasing its capabilities in the areas of protein engineering and platform development, to enhance its biologics pipeline. The newly-created department of Protein Engineering and Enabling Technologies (PEET) is charged with developing platform technologies in-house, as well as designing biological therapeutics and pursuing external collaborations. The Emerging Technologies group in PEET has multiple positions open in our Boston-area biotechnology drug discovery research institute for creative and accomplished scientists at various levels. The primary goal of the group is the development of new platforms for biological drug design to the point where they will have drug-like characteristics. Complementary technologies, both new and already under development, will also be within the scope of the group. The group's mandate covers a wide range of protein engineering projects, and a candidate with scientific breadth and creativity will have a distinct advantage.This scientist will be responsible for performing sophisticated experiments in the lab, through hands-on and collaborative efforts. He/she may also help design experiments, analyze and report data, and take part in strategic planning of the projects. The successful candidate will be able to achieve scientific goals and solve problems with minimal supervision, as well as help other members of the lab learn problem-solving skills and new techniques. All lab members are encouraged to contribute innovative ideas for meeting the challenges in protein engineering and design of therapeutics, and will be expected to take part in publications and presentations (external and internal).
