Senior Buyer Req. # 60868Position Description The Senior Buyer is primarily focused on purchasing and management of direct material including development and implementation of sourcing strategies, assisting in supplier selection and qualification of suppliers. Position Responsibilities •  Maintains and promotes sound relationships with suppliers and the business community by taking ownership for all material and sourcing activities •  Meet inventory goals while supporting material requirements for Production •  Uses value analysis skills to reduce overall costs. •  Track pricing, PPV and spend for all suppliers •  Develop data for spend analysis •  Track overall supplier performance for pricing and delivery •  Understand and report on supplier capacity and capability •  Track inventory and make sourcing decisions according to company goals •  Utilize and implement formal benchmarking process to determine best in class pricing •  Works closely with Supplier Quality to correct supplier issues. •  Supports lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives internally and with suppliers. •  Research, understand and recommend strategies for improving the supply chain process. •  Meets expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvement in the overall Purchasing process. Maintains effective customer relationships and gains their trust and respect. •  Develop and meet project milestones •  Works closely with all members of Purchasing and the Value Stream to assist in the development of sound, lowest total cost material strategies to support production requirements •  Place timely purchase orders, expedite material and resolve Accounts Payable issues •  Participate as a member of cross-functional teams to assist in the development and implementation of Supply Chain strategies •  Supports continuous supplier improvements through participating in rapid improvement events, training and certification. •  Develop a strategic plan for suppliers to minimize total cost of ownership •  Participate in and/or lead improvement teams within the business sector •  Develop and drive opportunities to eliminate waste from the supply chain process. Basic Qualifications •  Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or related field.  CPM or CPIM, MBA a plus.   •  5+ years purchasing related experience. •  Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral •  Must be able to read, understand, interpret and make recommendations concerning technical drawings and specifications •  Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision •  Have strong negotiating skills •  Specific knowledge of SAP R/3. •  Experience in Microsoft Office, Project and Visio •  The ability to assess, define and resolve supply chain issues •  Knowledge of manufacturing processes and understanding of design and quality requirements as they relate to components and assemblies.
