This position is located in Durham, NC. Responsibilities: This position is responsible for configuration management issues associated with product releases. You work closely with Development, QA, IT and others to define and implement procedures for releasing products throughout the entire product life cycle. Works with internal group managers to build and deliver products. Maintains build system and automates build process. Ensures proper archiving and audibility of product releases. Serves as an advocate for CM best practices. Installs and delivers software changes overseeing the code release process from development to production. Communicates status on a periodic basis in written/verbal format as required. Works with developers to ensure proper configuration procedures are followed. Provides technical expertise to other departments in support of software configuration and release. Represents the configuration management discipline in interdepartmental teams and task forces. Works with software engineers to ensure that new tools are well designed and work easily and reliably. Acts as a mentor for new associates. Negotiates and coordinates project milestone dates with team leaders, Engineering Managers and Program Managers. Recommends process improvements and, upon receiving approval, implements procedures within assigned area of responsibility. Assists team leaders in setting goals and objectives and evaluating the performance of the team members, setting priorities relative to existing workload, ensuring early recognition and resolution or escalation of issues. Is a resource to the entire company, and is directly involved with (responsible for) recommending, planning, and leading the technical direction of projects. Provides leadership in process improvement for configuration and release. Leads the implementation of process changes.Requirements: Experience with build packaging and deployments required. 5+ years of experience in configuration management in a software development organization. Shell scripting (KORN, bash); Perl; ANT; Maven; CVS Experience with the following database technologies: Oracle, SQL, or Informix. Experience with MicroStrategy a plus. Windows systems and scripting experience a plus. Unix, Solaris experience preferred. Healthcare experience a plus. Ability to actively communicate status and escalates issues. Ability to learn and apply skills to new technology. Plan, schedule, implement, and track assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills Demonstrated initiative to improve both technical knowledge and process. Successfully integrates deliverables into a total quality application solution. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals and high-level requirements documentation.
