Senior HIMS Coder

The hospital is currently undergoing construction of a new 200-bed patient tower, a new main entrance, Emergency Department, cafeteria and other areas. Construction on the new main entrance will be completed in June 2008, and the patient tower is scheduled for completion in 2009. Once all construction is completed, Banner Thunderbird will offer 582 licensed beds and will be the largest hospital in the Northwest Valley of the Phoenixmetropolitan area. Banner Thunderbird also offers robotic surgery that allows for faster recovery times for patients and IPROB, a computerized system that reduces the chances of complications during labor and delivery.The HIMS Coder will evaluate medical records and assign appropriate clinical diagnoses and procedure codes in accordance with nationally recognized coding guidelines for the development of a system-wide database and submission of hospital claims. Requirements:·  A minimum of 3 years experience as a Coder·  Demonstrated knowledge of ICD coding and/or CPT coding principles, coding software and the recommended AHIMA coding competencies·  Effective human relations skills for interfacing with all levels of hospital staff, physicians and other contacts·  Registered Health Information Technician or Certified Coding Specialist in active status with AHIMA is strongly preferred Banner Health offers tuition reimbursement, growth opportunities, and many other benefits.
