Senior Healthcare Data Analyst

The Long Island Health Network (LIHN) headquartered in Melville, New York, is a clinically integrated joint venture of 10 hospitals formed to improve clinical quality, enhance  efficiency of operations, and expand access to health care services for 3.5 million people in Nassau and Suffolk counties.  As a Network of healthcare providers, LIHN seeks to improve the health status of its constituents by retaining local access to high quality, lower cost healthcare services.

Position Summary:
Applies analytic and process management skills to develop and support clinical outcomes reporting utilizing the healthcare data collected by LIHN to benefit both LIHN and its member hospitals.

Specific Duties:
Conduct in-depth data mining on various topics and apply appropriate methodologies to translate raw data into actionable information. Continuously monitor the status and usability of the available data. Establish and/or automate processes for effective data management including data set collection, data quality assessment, database production, data integration, and report production/distribution.  Assist with the definition and development of a LIHN data warehouse. Interact with third-party suppliers and healthcare informatics system as part of an overall clinical information delivery and performance assessment strategy. Pursue additional datasets to enhance the value of analytical studies.


Key Knowledge/Skills:Basic understanding of statistical methodologies and their appropriate implementation/use in healthcare performance reporting. Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Access, and MS Excel. Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment to manage multiple priorities.
